Spring is in the Air
Spring has sprung and I am getting antsy to get outside more! I haven’t had seasons in almost four years, Southern California doesn’t really tend to have weather. Sunny and 70 is what I am used to and now I look at my pale skin, dry from the winter, and I’m ready to put away my down jacket and break out the tank tops and tint my skin so that I don’t look like Wednesday from the Addams Family.
I moved to Boulder July 1, 2008 and was on a semi-long break from climbing. It wasn’t until this past fall that I started getting back into it and it has been a long and hard struggle for me to get back in shape both mentally and physically. But with the weather getting nicer, I have more incentive to get back the strength I had once before. I decided that I needed one more slight nudge to get myself going…new clothes. That may not be the best reason to get back into shape, but its a good enough reason for me to justify spending the money on myself in this economy. So I went to Pearl Street Mall today just to browse and see what I could find and what the new spring lines looked like. Prana has 20,302,399 things that I would like to hang in my closet and so does Patagonia, but I wanted to make my first stop in Outdoor Divas because I heard they were having a sale. While the store is nice because it’s clothes, climbing shoes, ski’s, snowboards and accessories geared for women, I feel that the employees are a little too, hmmm how do I say this, stalkerish? Upon walking in there I was greeted by a nice woman who informed me all the sale items were downstairs and if I needed anything let her know. So I hit up the sales racks looking for a bargain! I soon became uncomfortable because the woman who greeted me was now standing at the top of the stairs watching me. 5 minutes later another woman came down to ask if I was doing OK, and once she had left and I had 3 minutes to myself before another woman came down and asked me if I wanted to try anything on. I followed her upstairs to the dressing rooms with my 4 items and shut the door behind me. I couldn’t even get my shirt off and she was asking if I was OK, and literally about 30 seconds later asked again, and then one more time before I came out. I was getting really annoyed. Do I look like someone who is going to steal something from them, have they had bad experiences with theft in the past? I tried to ignore it and I went to try on some sandals in the back. And one last time a woman asked me if i need anything. I was so uncomfortable I wanted to just leave, but bought my sandal and shorts because I liked them a lot. I don’t think I will go back in there because this has now happened to me the two times I have gone in there. It’s annoying and it’s not going to get people to buy your things if you stalk them. Have trust. I suppose that if they have a better deal, then I will buy their stuff online, to avoid the tag-along employess.
So I am off to the gym this week, everyday, to train hard. Ryan has some exercises for me on the systems board that kind of kick my ass, but it’s worth it. Updates later this week with how training goes.
I also decided I wanted to post some of my work. I hope you enjoy.
To Start
So I was never one for technology, and I have to say, that since meeting my boyfriend Ryan 3 years ago, my taste have changed. I see how easy and convenient it is for people to keep their lives online. I really started getting into all of this “Web 2.0 hoopla” when Ryan bought his Blackberry Curve 8330. Being a girl, I wanted one for the simple fact that I thought it was a “cute” phone, but Ryan also convinced me to get it for other reasons. Well after about a month of setting it up and getting accustomed to it, I discovered all the things I can do right from my phone, I was hooked. I loved that I can be connected to the world anywhere I am. That’s what started it all. I have been influenced by Ryan and have started getting new applications for my phone and computer; really getting into the social networking scene. I am trying this whole blog thing too, which is big for me to share my thoughts and feelings in an open public forum. So please be patient with me at first while I dip my toes in and feel the water; before I jump in and really start swimming.
This blog, for me, is a place for me to “XposeIt” all; my thoughts, my photography, and the plans that I have for my life. Currently Ryan and I are living in Boulder, Colorado, and we love it! We have been here almost a year and I plan on staying here for a long time, but I have an itch, to move, to go, to see and to explore before I settle down. So we are beginning the planning, saving and the preparation for a yearlong trip around the U.S.; with only whatever we can fit into our Toyota Tacoma. I want to climb, I want to see things, and over the course of the trip, I want to document it all. So with this blog, you can follow me and see our preparation, which will lead to our travels.
So that’s me right now in a nutshell. I am a climber, a photographer, a girlfriend, a daughter, a best friend, and a curious girl, ready to satisfy her hunger for adventure. Talk to you soon!
